This past Sunday, the closing event of @cltwineandfood was a “Smoke & Grapes” event with @jongsbbq from Peachland paired with some beautiful wines from @andiswines from the Sierra Foothills of California. Mrs. Monk and I were fortunate enough to be invited to it by friends of the blog @ariail_bakka and @ajbakka.

Dukes Bar-B-Q in Orangeburg, SC is part of the Dukes barbecue lineage going back decades in the midlands of the state. There are a number of Dukes barbecue stores between Aiken and Charleston but each is independently owned and operated by various members of the Dukes family. This location off Chesnut Street is operated by Ann and Harry Ott, Jr (Harry’s mother Elma was the patriarch Earl Dukes’ sister).
